Washington State Senate resolution recognizing and honoring Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual reflection observed by over 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide and 2.5 million in the United States

Ramadan 2026 begins February 17, during which healthy adult Muslims fast from food, water, and other activities from dawn to dusk as one of the five core pillars of Islam

Acknowledges contributions of American Muslims in Washington state, including providing food to the hungry, refugee assimilation services, medical assistance, legal aid, and relief efforts

Notes Ramadan concludes with Eid-al-Fitr ("festival of breaking the fast"), a three-day holiday beginning March 19, 2026
