Senate Resolution 8705 honors Senator Matt Boehnke for his service representing Washington's 8th Legislative District, which includes Kennewick and parts of Richland in the Tri-Cities region.

Senator Boehnke served on Kennewick City Council beginning in 2015, was elected to the State House in 2018, and was elected to the State Senate in 2022, assuming office in January 2023.

Prior to legislative service, he served more than 21 years in the U.S. Army aviation branch, retiring as a lieutenant colonel, and works as a tenured cybersecurity professor at Columbia Basin College where he founded the cybersecurity program.

The resolution recognizes his work on technology policy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, advanced nuclear energy, workforce development, and career and technical education.

Copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to Senator Boehnke and his family, including his wife Dawn of more than 35 years, their two sons, and daughter-in-law.
