School boards, independent charter school governing boards, and private school governing bodies must maintain an adequate usable supply of opioid antagonist (such as naloxone) on site at each school in an easily accessible location at all times

The Office of School Safety within the Department of Justice must provide grants to schools to cover costs of complying with the opioid antagonist requirement

$100,000 is appropriated for fiscal year 2026-27 to fund these grants

The bill takes effect on September 1, 2026

Current law already permits school personnel to administer opioid antagonists during overdoses and provides liability immunity; this bill adds the mandatory stocking requirement
