Hospitals must provide one postpartum home visit to any person who requests it within 14 days of giving birth, with the visit scheduled within 14 days of the request

Postpartum home visits include physical recovery assessment, breastfeeding and infant feeding support, maternal emotional wellness screening, and connection to follow-up care

Visits may be provided by doulas trained to Wisconsin Doulas of Color Collective standards, licensed midwives, nurse-midwives, or other licensed health care providers within their scope of practice

Hospitals cannot charge patients directly for postpartum home visit services

Health insurance policies and self-insured governmental health plans with maternity coverage must cover one postpartum home visit per birth with no cost-sharing
