School boards are prohibited from requiring teachers to perform any services outside of regular classroom instruction without compensating them for that time

Current law requires schools to provide teachers a daily duty-free 30-minute lunch period, or allows school boards to contract with teachers for services during lunch

The requirement applies to Milwaukee's 1st class city school district and board, but not to the commissioner or schools transferred to opportunity schools and partnership programs

For teachers with existing collective bargaining agreements or contracts containing inconsistent provisions, the law applies when the agreement expires, is extended, modified, or renewed
