Emergency proclamations issued by local chief executive officers when governing bodies cannot meet promptly are limited to 60 days, unless extended by the governing body

Local governing bodies retain authority to ratify, alter, modify, extend, or repeal emergency proclamations once they are able to convene

"Chief executive officer" is defined to include county executives, county administrators, county board chairs (in counties with administrative coordinators), mayors, city managers, village presidents, and town board chairpersons

Acting or temporary officials filling these roles are also authorized to issue emergency proclamations under the same 60-day limitation
