Counties transitioning from coroner or lay medical examiner services to physician medical examiner services between December 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025 may set death record signing fees and cremation permit fees up to $100 above the April 17, 2015 rates

Fee increases under this exception are exempt from current law requiring increases to be limited to the annual U.S. consumer price index change

Each fee (death record signing and cremation permit) may only be increased one time under this exception

Counties with populations exceeding 300,000 are excluded from this exception

Amends section 59.365(3)(a) of Wisconsin statutes, updating a similar exception that previously applied to transitions occurring between December 31, 2015 and April 1, 2016
