Mental health providers are prohibited from performing conversion therapy on individuals under 18 years of age

Conversion therapy is defined as any intervention attempting to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change behaviors, expressions of self, or reduce same-gender attractions

Exempted counseling includes: gender transition assistance, acceptance/support counseling, identity exploration, and orientation-neutral interventions addressing unlawful conduct or unsafe practices

Covered providers include physicians, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, social workers, those with training/temporary licenses, and students or interns working under their direction

Violations require investigation by the Medical Examining Board, Psychology Examining Board, or Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Counseling/Social Work Examining Board, with mandatory discipline (license limitation, suspension, or revocation) upon a finding of violation
