School districts must obtain certification from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) confirming compliance with all financial reporting requirements before adopting resolutions for bond issues or revenue limit referendums

DPI certification must verify compliance as of a date no earlier than 14 days before the school board or electors vote on the resolution

Required financial reporting includes submissions under statutes 119.44(1), 120.14, 120.18, and 121.05 to DPI or the state superintendent

Any resolution or referendum adopted without the required DPI compliance certification is automatically void

School boards remain limited to no more than 2 referendum proceedings per calendar year for exceeding revenue limits or bond issues
