School boards and independent charter schools must provide at least one hour of voter education instruction per year in each elementary and high school grade as part of the social studies curriculum, beginning July 1, 2026

Elementary grade instruction must cover how the electoral process works, the importance of voting, mock elections, and voter eligibility

Middle and high school instruction must include in-person and absentee voting procedures, how to find reliable information about candidates and issues, and official state voting resource websites including the Elections Commission

High school instruction must additionally cover voter registration, how to obtain and cast absentee ballots, paper ballots and voting systems, and voting options for military electors and college students

State Superintendent of Public Instruction must incorporate voter education into model academic standards for social studies and develop a model curriculum for grades K-12
