Legislators serving on standing committees with Department of Corrections jurisdiction must receive immediate access (less than 24 hours' notice) to tour any state correctional institution, including residential areas, prison cells, meal areas, and discussions with prisoners

Political subdivision employees responsible for county jail oversight must receive immediate access to tour jails under their oversight or jails holding residents from their geographic region

Access may only be denied between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. (with daytime access required instead) or if the requester has already completed 12 visits in that calendar year

Requesters who exceed the 12-visit annual limit must still be provided access within 72 hours of the request
