Volunteers serving on church safety or security teams are exempt from Wisconsin's private detective and private security license and permit requirements while acting within the scope of their volunteer duties

The exemption applies only while volunteers are on the premises of the church's place of worship

"Church" is defined as a religious or faith-based body with distinct legal existence, a congregation, and regular religious services

The exemption does not extend to schools or other entities operated by or under the control of the church
