District attorneys, corporation counsel, or designated county officials must file a petition to terminate parental rights for newborns relinquished under Wisconsin's safe haven law (children 72 hours old or younger given to law enforcement, EMS, or hospital staff)

Petitions must be filed no earlier than 30 days after relinquishment and no later than 60 days after the juvenile court finds probable cause that the child was relinquished

Venue for termination proceedings involving relinquished children is established in the county where the relinquishment occurred

Courts may transfer cases to the county of residence of the child or parent upon motion and for good cause shown

Takes effect on the first day of the 6th month after publication
