Sets permit fees at $20 for adults, $10 for children 12 and older, and free for children under 12, plus a 75-cent issuing fee for permits issued to those 12 and older

Permits are valid for the calendar year in which issued and do not authorize hiking in areas where hiking is prohibited

Exempts vehicle admission areas (state parks, Richard Bong recreation area, Wisconsin Dells natural area, Point Beach state forest, most roadside parks) from the permit requirement

Allows exemptions for those with existing DNR approvals, state trail passes, or participating in organized authorized events
