Wisconsin State Legislature honors Representative David O. Martin (March 7, 1931 – January 22, 2025), who served five consecutive terms in the State Assembly beginning in 1960 and as Assistant Majority Leader in 1967-68

Martin served on the Joint Committee on Finance, Building Commission, and Joint Legislative Council, and was the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor in 1970

Key legislative accomplishments included bipartisan work on the Wisconsin Wild Rivers law and establishment of the statewide vocational and technical education system

Prior to and following legislative service, Martin worked as a forester and government relations manager for Kimberly Clark Corporation, and served as associate vice president for the University of Wisconsin System until 1993

Continued public service after leaving the legislature through leadership roles with Common Cause Wisconsin, Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board, and the Three Eagles Foundation
