Kessler served 12 terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly beginning in 1960, when he became the youngest member to serve at that time

Served as Milwaukee County judge from 1972 to 1978, then as Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge from 1978 to 1981 and 1986 to 1988

Advocated for redistricting reform, civil rights, labor unions, judicial system reform, and helped establish German, French, and Spanish language immersion schools in Milwaukee

Directs the assembly chief clerk to provide a copy of the resolution to Representative Kessler's family
