Senator Bruce S. Peloquin (November 3, 1936 – October 2, 2024) served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 1965-1971 and Wisconsin Senate from 1971-1979, representing Chippewa County as only the second Democrat to hold that Assembly seat in the 20th century

Legislative achievements included strengthening child abuse laws, requiring public schools to provide special education and employ reading specialists, and supporting the foster grandparent program

Served on numerous committees including Joint Committee on Finance, Education, and the Education Commission of the States, along with various interim study committees on education policy

Earned a bachelor's degree in business administration (1966) and master's in school psychology (1973) from UW-Eau Claire, working as a licensed school psychologist in multiple Wisconsin school districts
