Hauke served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 1972 to 1992, including four years as majority leader

Chaired multiple committees including Elections, Financial Institutions and Insurance, and Rules, as well as Legislative Council study committees

Hauke held degrees from Marquette University (bachelor's 1960, juris doctor 1967) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (master's 1971), and worked as an electrical engineer, attorney, and legislator from West Allis

The resolution extends condolences from the Wisconsin Legislature to his family, including his wife Susan of 53 years, sons Michael and Matthew, and granddaughter Jaeda
