All 29 crew members died when the 729-foot freighter sank on November 10, 1975, while carrying over 26,000 tons of iron ore from Superior, Wisconsin to Zug Island, Michigan

Eight of the 29 crew members were Wisconsin residents, with seven from the south shore of Lake Superior

The ship sank during a violent storm with gale-force winds after Captain Ernest McSorley reported radar loss, topside damage, and a starboard list; the wreck was found 17 miles short of Whitefish Point

Acknowledges family members and friends still affected by the loss and honors those who continue to serve in the Great Lakes maritime industry
