School boards, independent charter school governing boards, and private school governing bodies must maintain an adequate usable supply of opioid antagonist (such as naloxone) on site at each school in an easily accessible location at all times

Office of School Safety within the Department of Justice will provide grants to schools to cover costs of complying with the opioid antagonist requirement

$100,000 appropriated for fiscal year 2026-27 to fund these grants

Effective date is September 1, 2026

Builds on existing law that already permits school personnel to administer opioid antagonists during suspected overdoses and provides liability immunity for doing so
