School boards must guarantee teachers daily self-directed preparation time of at least 45 minutes or one class period, whichever is greater

Requirement applies to all Wisconsin school districts, including first-class city school districts (Milwaukee)

Creates new section 120.12(30) in Wisconsin statutes establishing the preparation time mandate

For teachers covered by existing collective bargaining agreements or contracts with inconsistent provisions, the requirement takes effect when those agreements expire, are modified, or renewed
