Landlords must annually offer residential tenants the option to have their on-time rent payments reported to credit bureaus, with the offer required at lease signing for new leases starting July 1, 2026, and annually thereafter

Fees for the reporting service are capped at the landlord's actual cost or $10 per month, whichever is less; landlords cannot charge tenants who decline the service

Only "positive" payment information (complete, timely payments) may be reported; late or missed payments cannot be included in the reports

Tenants may opt out of reporting at any time but must wait 6 months before re-enrolling; failure to pay the reporting fee is not grounds for eviction or security deposit deduction

Exemptions apply to landlords with 15 or fewer units (unless they own multiple buildings and are REITs, corporations, or certain LLCs) and to tenants receiving rental assistance covering more than 70% of rent
