Requires carbon monoxide detectors in all public and private elementary and secondary schools and licensed child care centers served by fuel-burning appliances, with detectors installed in each room containing such appliances

Buildings designed after the effective date must have detectors permanently powered by the building's electrical system and monitored by any required fire alarm system; existing buildings may use battery-powered detectors

All detectors must bear certification marks from Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. or similar independent product safety certification organizations

Department of Justice will award grants of up to $3,000 to school boards, independent charter schools, private schools, and tribal schools to acquire or install compliant detectors

Appropriates $75,000 in fiscal year 2025-26 for the grant program, with DOJ required to submit annual reports on grants awarded to the Joint Committee on Finance
