Creates an alternative pathway for individuals who have taken but not passed the national social work examination to obtain provisional credentials at any level (social worker, advanced practice, independent, or clinical social worker)

Provisional certificate/license holders may practice and use the corresponding professional title for up to 36 months, with no renewal option

Requires 37.5 hours of supervision during the first 2,000 hours of practice, with at least 3 hours of supervision per every 160 hours worked; 25 hours must be one-on-one in-person supervision

Provisional holders must submit an approved supervision plan and receive evaluations every 6 months, culminating in a final supervisor attestation of competency after 2,000 hours

Upon successful completion of supervised practice requirements, individuals may obtain a nonprovisional credential without passing the national examination
