Parking structure owners must hire a professional engineer registered in Wisconsin to inspect structural integrity within 5 years of the law taking effect, then at least every 5 years thereafter

Inspection reports must be submitted to the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) or to the local municipality if authorized to perform commercial building plan examinations

Owners who fail to complete required inspections face $200 monthly forfeitures beginning 6 months after the inspection deadline, continuing through month 12

DSPS must close any parking structure that remains uninspected one year after the required inspection deadline

Inspections already conducted under existing DSPS or local building inspection authority satisfy the new requirement
