School districts are prohibited from joining interscholastic athletic associations unless those associations elect to comply with Wisconsin's public records and open meetings laws

Interscholastic athletic associations are defined as nonprofit organizations that coordinate athletic events for students in grades 9-12 in public schools

Associations that opt into public records requirements may withhold records concerning individual referees from public inspection

Pupil records maintained by participating interscholastic athletic associations are exempt from public records inspection and copying requirements

Adds interscholastic athletic associations that elect coverage to the statutory definitions of "authority" (for public records) and "governmental body" (for open meetings)
