Out-of-state health care providers with active, unencumbered licenses may register with Wisconsin to provide telehealth services to patients located in the state, without obtaining full Wisconsin licensure.

Applicants must have no disciplinary actions resulting in license limitations, suspensions, or revocations in the preceding 5 years, and must designate an agent for service of process in Wisconsin.

Registered telehealth providers must maintain malpractice liability insurance covering Wisconsin patients and notify the department within 5 business days of any license restrictions or disciplinary actions in any jurisdiction.

The department must publish a public list of registered telehealth providers including their name, credentials, specialty, 5-year disciplinary history, and malpractice insurance information.

Registered providers may not open an office or provide in-person care in Wisconsin without obtaining a full state credential; the act takes effect on the first day of the 7th month after publication.
