Retired law enforcement officers and firefighters may continue receiving their Wisconsin Retirement System annuity while returning to work for a WRS-participating employer, rather than having their annuity suspended

Qualifying retirees must wait at least 75 days between terminating employment and being rehired by a participating employer

Retirees cannot have a pre-arranged agreement to return to work at the time of their initial retirement

Returning retirees must elect on a department form to not become a participating employee in order to continue receiving their annuity

Applies to WRS participants who terminate employment on or after the effective date of the act
