Commercial building code rules in effect on August 1, 2025 (based on 2015 International Building Code) will apply to public buildings, public structures, and places of employment if plans are submitted for examination by April 1, 2026

Provides a transition period for projects to use the older 2015 International Building Code instead of the 2021 International Building Code that took effect September 1, 2025

Plans may be submitted to either the Department of Safety and Professional Services or to authorized local governments (cities, villages, towns, or counties) that perform building code examinations

Creates new statutory section 101.02(26) establishing this temporary code applicability provision
