Increases the penalty for intentionally injuring a law enforcement or fire department animal from a Class I felony to a Class H felony (up to $10,000 fine and/or 6 years imprisonment)

Increases the penalty for intentionally causing the death of a law enforcement or fire department animal from a Class H felony to a Class G felony (up to $25,000 fine and/or 10 years imprisonment)

Applies to animals used by law enforcement agencies or fire departments to perform official functions or duties

Restitution requirements remain in place, including veterinary care expenses or replacement animal costs
