Legislators on standing committees with Department of Corrections jurisdiction must receive immediate access (less than 24 hours' notice) to tour any state correctional institution, including residential areas, prison cells, meal areas, and discussions with prisoners

Political subdivision employees responsible for county jail oversight must receive immediate access to tour jails under their oversight or jails housing residents from their geographic region

Access may be denied only during overnight hours (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) or if the requester has already completed 12 access visits in the calendar year

Denied overnight requests must be accommodated between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.; requests exceeding the 12-visit annual limit must be fulfilled within 72 hours
