Volunteers serving on church safety or security teams are exempted from Wisconsin's private detective and private security license and permit requirements under section 440.26

The exemption applies only while volunteers are acting within the scope of their duties and physically on church premises

"Church" is defined as a religious or faith-based organization with distinct legal existence, a congregation, and regular religious services

The exemption is limited to the church's place of worship and does not extend to church-operated schools or other affiliated entities or organizations
