DATCP may award implementation grants to cities, villages, towns, counties, regional planning commissions, and tribal governments for activities including first-time farmland preservation zoning certification, enrolling land in preservation agreements, designating agricultural enterprise areas, monitoring compliance, and program outreach

Maximum acreage for agricultural enterprise areas increases from 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 acres statewide

Farmland preservation tax credit amounts ($10 or $12.50 per qualifying acre) will be indexed annually for inflation starting August 2026, using the USDA index of prices paid by farmers or the consumer price index as a backup

Initial August 2026 inflation adjustment will account for cumulative price changes dating back to January 2023

Grant recipients may be required to provide up to 50% matching funds, and DATCP must withhold at least 50% of grant funds until recipients complete specified project benchmarks
