Local government employees or officers contacted by federal authorities or private resettlement agencies about proposed refugee placements must report the contact within 7 business days to their chief elected official

Chief elected officials must notify all local governments within a 100-mile radius, and each notified jurisdiction must hold a public meeting and designate a representative for federal consultation

County refugee resettlement committees, composed of all local designees, must convene within 30-45 days to discuss proposed placements and hold a public hearing with at least 15 days published notice

Committees must recommend whether local governments should pass resolutions on proposed placements and provide guidance on consultation considerations including impacts on local agencies

Designees must report any finalized refugee placement plans to their local governing bodies within 7 business days
