Wisconsin Legislature honors Senator Timothy Francis Cullen (February 25, 1944 – December 23, 2024), a Janesville native who served in the State Senate from 1975-1987 and 2011-2015

Served as Senate Majority Leader from 1982-1986 and later as Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services under Republican Governor Tommy Thompson (1987-1988)

Authored legislation creating the Homeownership Mortgage Loan Program, improving unemployment compensation, increasing homestead tax credits, expanding consumer protections, and prohibiting felons from possessing firearms

Founded the Tim Cullen Government Institute for 11th graders and the Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship Fund, which has resulted in 11 teachers of color being hired with 20 additional students in the pipeline

Partnered with Republican former Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz to advocate for nonpartisan redistricting and authored three books on Wisconsin politics, with proceeds benefiting teacher diversity programs
