Wisconsin Legislature formally honors Jerry Apps for his contributions to preserving the state's agricultural heritage and rural history

Apps authored more than 50 books on Wisconsin history and rural life, including 23 publications with the Wisconsin Historical Society Press such as Wisconsin Agriculture: A History and the award-winning Old Farm: A History

Career spans roles as a Waushara County 4-H member starting at age 10, county extension agent in Green Lake and Brown Counties, and professor at UW College of Agriculture where he taught thousands of students

Created seven documentaries on rural life with PBS Wisconsin, winning a regional Emmy Award for A Farm Winter and two Eric Sevareid Awards for The Land and Food and Memories

Recognized alongside Wisconsin naturalists Aldo Leopold, John Muir, Sigurd Olson, Increase Lapham, and Gaylord Nelson for his environmental and heritage preservation work
