Employees of the Bureau of Senior Services, Department of Administration, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Revenue, and Department of Veterans' Assistance hired or promoted after July 1, 2025 will be exempt from the classified civil service system and state grievance procedures

Current employees in these agencies who remain in their existing positions retain their civil service protections and access to grievance procedures

Any current employee who leaves their position but stays within these agencies will be transferred to the classified exempt service and lose grievance procedure access

Agency heads may designate certain employees' civil service status as needed to comply with federal law or maintain eligibility for federal funding

Existing state protections against nepotism, favoritism, discrimination, and unethical employment practices remain in effect for these agencies
