Counties and municipalities must provide public notice at least three months before purchasing any land or buildings, including specifications on the size of the property being sought

Alternative property proposals must be accepted if they are within 10% of stated specifications and located within 4 miles of the originally selected point; proposals must be made available to the public for 10 business days before any action is taken

Public notice can be provided through social media, posting at the courthouse, or other media appropriate to the property type and value; newspaper advertisements are optional

Required notice information includes: date, time, and location of sale; property categories; inspection period; method of sale (spot bid, sealed bid, or auction); selling agency; and contact information

Applies equally to both county governments (Chapter 7) and municipal governments (Chapter 8) through parallel new code sections
