Automatically restores Second Amendment rights to individuals convicted of nonviolent felonies upon completion of their sentence and payment of all court-ordered penalties, restitution, and fines

Restores firearm rights to the same status the person held before the nonviolent felony conviction

Does not apply to individuals convicted of violent felonies, felony sexual offenses, or felony controlled substance offenses involving Schedule I (except marijuana), Schedule II, or Schedule III substances

Current law requires individuals prohibited from possessing firearms due to felony convictions to petition the circuit court and prove competency by clear and convincing evidence to regain firearm rights

Maintains existing prohibitions on firearm possession for those with violent crime convictions, domestic violence offenses, mental health adjudications, and other specified disqualifying conditions
