Requires schools to split large classrooms into two separate classrooms when class size affects teachers' ability to provide one-on-one instruction with students

Mandates that split classrooms be divided as equally as possible to ensure aide coverage remains available for both classrooms as required by existing law

Maintains existing maximum teacher-pupil ratios: 20 students per kindergarten teacher, 25 students per teacher for grades 1-6

Requires early childhood classroom assistant teachers or aides in kindergarten classrooms with more than 10 pupils and in grades 1-3 with more than 12 pupils

Implementation of the new classroom splitting requirement begins in the 2025-2026 school year
