Increases the civil jurisdictional limit of West Virginia magistrate courts from the previous amount to $20,000 for cases where the value or amount in controversy does not exceed that threshold (exclusive of interest and costs)

Magistrate courts retain jurisdiction over unlawful entry, detainer of real property, and wrongful occupation of residential rental property, provided title to the property is not in dispute

Magistrate courts remain prohibited from hearing equity actions, eminent domain matters, cases involving real estate title disputes, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, slander, libel, or extraordinary remedies

Magistrates, court clerks, deputy clerks, and assistants retain authority to administer oaths, take affidavits and depositions, and acknowledge deeds and other writings

Takes effect July 7, 2025 (90 days after passage on April 8, 2025)
