Prohibits public and private higher education institutions in West Virginia from requiring current or prospective students or employees to disclose their social media usernames or passwords

Bars institutions from requiring students to add school employees, coaches, professors, or administrators to their social media contacts as a condition of participating in curricular or extracurricular activities

Prevents institutions from requiring students to change their social media privacy settings as a condition of acceptance into activities

Protects students and employees from retaliation, including discharge, discipline, denial of admission or hiring, or exclusion from activities for refusing to comply with prohibited social media requests

Allows institutions to view publicly available information on the internet and does not prevent compliance with federal or state laws and regulations
