The sex designation on an original birth certificate cannot be changed as a result of sex change surgery

To obtain a driver's license, identification card, or instruction permit with a sex different from sex at birth, applicants must provide medical documentation of gender reassignment surgery AND a court order declaring the gender designation

These requirements apply to all driver's licenses, identification cards, and instruction permits issued in West Virginia
