All school nurses must be registered professional nurses licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses

Specialized health procedures (catheterization, tracheostomy suctioning, tube feeding) may be delegated to trained school employees under nurse supervision, with mandatory retraining every two years

School service employees who undergo training to provide specialized health care procedures receive additional pay of at least one pay grade higher than their current highest pay grade

The State Board of Education must promulgate rules requiring employment of additional school nurses beyond the minimum to ensure adequate services for severely handicapped pupils
