Increases sheriff salaries across all 10 county classes to be 10% higher than the salaries of county clerks and circuit clerks, effective after June 30, 2022

New sheriff salaries range from $75,132 (Class I counties) to $57,244 (Class X counties), compared to current salaries ranging from $56,793 to $48,661

County clerk and circuit clerk salaries remain unchanged, ranging from $68,302 (Class I) to $52,040 (Class X)

Salary increases require prior certification by the State Auditor that the county's fiscal condition can support the raises, and elected officials must file a written request to receive the increase

Sheriffs in Class I through Class V counties and Class VI through Class IX counties must continue to devote full time to their public duties, excluding other employment
