West Virginia State Police members assigned to field duty would receive an additional $3,000 annual salary increase beginning July 1, 2025, on top of their base pay and existing length-of-service increases

The field duty pay supplement applies to sworn members whose salaries are fixed under the existing career progression system, which covers ranks from Cadet Trooper through Lieutenant Colonel

Current base salaries for field positions range from $53,724 for Cadets During Training to $81,195 for Lieutenant Colonels, with members also receiving $500 cumulative annual increases after two years of service

The bill does not apply the field duty supplement to forensic laboratory employees, administrative support specialists, the superintendent, or civilian employees of the State Police
