PFC Meadows served in the U.S. Army during World War II, landing with the first wave of the 4th Infantry Division at Utah Beach on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and fighting through the Battle of the Bulge

Meadows received the Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Badge, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead and Silver Service Star

After the war, Meadows worked as a lineman constructing power plants in the Mid-Ohio Valley and was a 68-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Huntington
