Campus police officers hired before January 1, 2026, may elect to participate in the Municipal Police and Firefighters Retirement System, but cannot transfer service credit or dollars from other retirement plans and must notify the Consolidated Public Retirement Board of their choice by December 31, 2025.

All campus police officers hired on or after January 1, 2026, are required to participate in the Municipal Police and Firefighters Retirement System as a condition of employment.

Home confinement officers hired on or after July 1, 2025, must participate in the Emergency Medical Services Retirement System, while those employed before that date may elect to transfer from the Public Employees Retirement System by August 29, 2025.

Transferring home confinement officers receive credit for prior service at a 2% multiplier, with the option to pay additional contributions with interest by December 31, 2030, to receive the higher 2.75% multiplier for eligible service.

The Consolidated Public Retirement Board must transfer assets from the Public Employees Retirement System to the Emergency Medical Services Retirement System for electing home confinement officers by March 31, 2026, with the transfer amount calculated using the July 1, 2025, actuarial valuation plus 7.25% annual interest.
