Authorizes the Governor to appoint a temporary acting official to carry out duties when vacancies occur in the offices of Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General, or Commissioner of Agriculture

The temporary acting official serves until the vacancy is permanently filled through the existing appointment process

The existing appointment process requires the political party executive committee of the vacating official to submit three qualified candidates to the Governor within 15 days

The Governor must make the permanent appointment within 5 days of receiving the party's list, or within 5 days after the 15-day deadline if no list is submitted

The permanent appointee must be affiliated with the same political party as the person who held the office when the vacancy occurred
