Increases the number of non-traditional instruction days from 5 to 10 days that county boards can use when schools are closed due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, with state board approval of the county's alternative instruction plan

Non-traditional instruction days allow teachers to assign and grade work completed by students at home, and these days count as both instructional days and employment days toward the 180-day and 200-day requirements

Prohibits out-of-calendar days from being rescheduled as instructional days to make up for lost school days, protecting those designated non-school days from being converted to instruction time

County boards must still maintain a minimum of 180 separate instructional days, a 200-day employment term, and meet daily instructional minute requirements (ranging from 315 minutes for K-5 to 345 minutes for grades 9-12)
